I Can See Clearly Now8/28/2017 As the second week of senior year comes to a close, ISM proves to be just as productive as I remember last year. I have continued to conduct research regarding potential contacts, as well as questions that I can ask during upcoming interviews that I may encounter. However, the highlight of this week revolved around our first speeches. I felt proud in my ability to successfully deliver my introductory speech.
I clearly recall my introductory speech last year in ISM, and I can proudly say that this year was much improved in comparison. I felt much more confident in my ability to speak, show my passion, and illustrate my reason for being in ISM II. My speech consisted of many key components as to why I came to the decision to pursue music in ISM II, the most prominent being my quote. I really liked the reaction that I received from my peers, when explaining the significance of my quote, and how relates to my plan for the school year. In comparison to last year, I feel as if my quote has much more significance in regards to my specific ISM aspirations this year, and I plan to continue to utilize my quote as one of the guiding components to my speech and my year as a whole. Overall, I have a great foundation for my final presentation, just based on my introductory speech alone. Although I felt proud of the content and execution of my speech, I knew that I had done a good job when after I had finished, Mr. Speice said, “ISM I students, that is how you will be able to speak by the end of this year…” Hearing that gave me a sense of pride, in showing that all of my hard work to improve my public speaking skills last year had paid off. I'm excited to continue to improve upon this skill this year, and to continue working on my speech in pursuit of final presentations.
