Weekly Reports
Can't Hold Us12/4/2017 I love music. There is not doubt, and I have never questioned this passion of mine. However, this week truly tested for me if there is such thing as TOO MUCH music. My week started off with a two hour dress rehearsal Tuesday night for a Reedy High School Fine Arts Winter Festival. Following this, we had not one, but TWO winter festivals back to back - Wednesday and Thursday night. Following THAT, I began to prepare for two recitals that I have next week! One of which is for my mentor and her organization, and the other is a volunteer event at a local nursing home with my piano students.
To sum up, the answer is no. As exhausting as all of this was, I can confidently say I was not discouraged. This week (and next week, full of performances) definitely test my perseverance. Doing something I love, however, has proven to fuel my aspirations and my drive to continue. It definitely has been a physically exhausting roller coaster, but worth it. Alongside this intense musical workload, the coursework of ISM has not slowed down. I have a meeting with my mentor in the upcoming week, my first mentor visit! I must assure that I am prepared for that - including a draft of my potential interview questions for my original work and a copy of the mentor handbook. I am beyond excited to begin working with my mentor but first things first, preparation. Winter break is coming up very quickly, and there is a handful I would like to accomplish before this happens. It is definitely going to be a long week, but I am ready to approach it head on!
