Back On The Road Again11/27/2017 As a high school student, one of the hardest things to do is come back from a break and continue to be productive. Coming back from thanksgiving break, the ISM students definitely had a plateful. This “To-Do List” includes student-teacher conferences to discuss current progress, updating both digital and physical portfolios, and scheduling initial mentor visits, to name a few.
When meeting with Mr. Speice, he asked me how I felt in regards to my progress this year. I was proud to admit that in comparison to last year, I was much more confident in regards to the progress we had made. I truly felt as if I had grown a handful in the past year, and I think that is definitely being reflected in how my school year is going. In addition, we discussed the difference between my ISM journey last year, in comparison to this year. I explained to Mr. Speice how I have definitely learned alot from this year. I spent a majority of last year interacting with individuals who can almost be characterized into their own specific species. The professionals that I am interacting with this year are definitely on the opposite side of the spectrum. In addition to reflecting upon my years work so far, and setting mental goals for the future, I reached out to my mentor to schedule the initial mentor visit. I am beyond excited to begin working with Mrs. Meinershagen, but I need to assure that I have everything in the right place before I begin my mentorship. This includes making sure that she is aware of her role as a mentor, and going over the mentor handbook with her. Once this process is complete, the ball will begin rolling!
