Weekly Reports
Sound of Silence11/6/2017 This week in ISM consisted of a lot of outside of school work. This is due to the fact that Reedy High School mysteriously lost wi-fi, and none of the ISM students were able to work. With that, it meant that my interview assessment and my presentation needed to be worked on from home.
This week consisted of my interview with Joey Tran, the lead singer of a local band MIXTAPE. This interview was extremely interesting, considering the fact that interviewing Joey exposed me to a completely different aspect of music - performance. In talking to Joey, he was able to share with me the story of his journey, what inspired to him to take the jump to pursue a career in music, and the steps he did to lead his band to success. Hearing about this was truly inspiring. Despite what everyone said in regards to instability of a career in this field, he took the jump and turned it into a successful and efficient career. Truly inspiring. In addition, I spent this week continuing the work on my presentation, which I am scheduled to give next week. I spent this weekend fine tuning my presentation, and began drafting what I am going to say for this presentation. I am excited to begin sharing my ISM journey with Mr. Speice and my peers, and am excited to receive feedback and continue to improve upon my presentation skills. Outside of ISM but still having relations to my topic of study, I was given the opportunity to partake in this years Frisco’s Got Talent show. I have been extremely excited for this competition, as I knew it would be a great opportunity to network and showcase my talent. From this talent show, not only did I receive second place and a cash prize, but I also was able to network and meet two individuals who gave me their contact information. This just showed me how beneficial it can be to participate in events such as this, due to the fact that a career in this path heavily revolves around networking. I will reach out to these particular individuals in the near future, and I hope to continue to utilize opportunities as this to network this year.
